Through the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Chesapeake Conservation Corps Volunteer program, the Sassafras River Association (SRA) is happy to be hosting volunteer Sophie Foscue through August 2013. The Chesapeake Conservation Corps program allows young professionals to spend a year at a host organization working on various environmental projects. Sophie will be assisting with projects including Project Clean Stream, Water Chestnut removal, and outreach efforts.
Sophie is excited to be here and is looking forward to putting her Environmental Studies degree from the University of North Carolina-Asheville to good use! Although a North Carolina native, she spent the summers of her childhood at her grandparent’s farm on the Sassafras River and is thankful for the opportunity to work on solving some of the issues the river faces today. She hopes to contribute as much as she can to protecting the Sassafras River so that future generations can enjoy it as much as she does.

How you doing Sophie my name is Anthony Gregory I moved from Washington D.C.. Back home with my mom’s in Heathsville V.A. but I was really surprised to see they had a conservation corp down here. I been working with a corp in the D.C. area called Earth Conservation Corp for the past two years and I enjoyed every moment of it. But to make a long story short I was wondering if you could help me get back in that field of work if I have to volunteer I will or anything. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.
